FACILITIES The Comforts of Mawabu After establishment in 1963 involving much hard work by the foundation members, the lodge has been expanded to provide for comfortable and separate recreation areas for adults and children with a first class commercial kitchen. ![]() One of our comfortable bedrooms RoomsAll rooms have en suite facilities and are furnished with either a king size or two single beds. MealsBreakfast and dinner are prepared and served daily by Clay and Emma with lunch being self catered.
Tea, coffee and fruit are available at all times. LoungeThere is a large lounge on the main floor where members and guests usually gather before dinner for quiet drinks and "cheese and biscuits". The White Spider Restaurant is a favourite watering hole where a warming schnapps can be found to sustain skiers on their journey home after a day on the slopes. As the walk from the Perisher Centre to Mawabu is an easy 8 to 10 minutes, more than one schnapps is unnecessary but often imbibed. Games roomThere is a separate games room on the ground floor with lounges, a pool table, a table tennis table and separate toilet facilities. No TV or videogamesMany years ago the club board decided to exclude television and video games from the lodge. It has proven to be a very popular decision. Adults enjoy a rare break from the noise and kids are so busy having fun without the TV they don't even notice its absence. Drying roomThere is a large drying room situated on the ground floor adjacent to a change room. LockersSki and boot lockers are available for hire at the Perisher Centre for a modest fee. These are included in the tariff for 7 day bookings. TransportTake the over snow from the ski tube station or enjoy the 10 minutes walk south along the Charlotte Pass Road, turn left at the White Spider and then straight ahead past "Snow Gums". See our location page for more detailed directions. ManagersClay and Emma are the Mawabu Lodge Mangers. They provide a comfortable and serene environment in which to enjoy your stay in the snow, be it skiing or just absorbing the view, the atmosphere and the peace and quiet. While our lodge is not a hotel our managers are very obliging and will assist where possible, particularly with local knowledge about the best runs and other vital information such as the best lunch spots. |
